Doga at pup plaza
Participants will learn about bonding with their dogs through Doga. While guiding the yoga practice, the Doga instructor will provide moments throughout the class for participants to bond, reward, and breathe with their dogs. The instructor will provide suggested cues for the leash and various opportunities during class to check-in and reconnect with their dogs.
Participants are encouraged to share their energy with their dog and to explore the natural bond we have with our canine best friends. We will partner with our dogs to share the mutual relationship of being both teachers and students of the practice. The main goal of Doga will be for participants to learn from our dogs how to have fun, be in the present and enjoy the simple things in life; while our dogs may pick up the calm and focus of our practice, eventually becoming more relaxed and comfortable with sharing a space with others. Check our our calendar of events for next session.
SHELTER Dog Day Out Program
As a rescue partner of the San Jose Animal Care Center, Silicon Valley Pet Project strives to support the shelter in new ways to promote adoption. Our latest program is called Dog Day Out and it involves giving some of the adoptable dogs at the shelter a day out of the shelter to relax and be pampered by our volunteers. We will be giving these dogs a much needed change of scenery and giving them the opportunity to relax outside the shelter for a day. During their time away, they will hang out with our volunteers, go for walks, maybe even a puppachino at Starbucks. We will also be promoting them on social media to increase the chances of these wonderful dogs finding their forever home. If you are interested in volunteering for this program, please fill out a volunteer application here. Mention Dog Day Out Program!
Behavior Meet Ups
Looking for support for behavior challenges with your dog, but don't know where to start? Drop into Pup Plaza for some guidance. We'll address common behavioral issues as needed, help teach basic commands, and help you and your dog find a more harmonious relationship at home. This community service helps keep dogs in loving homes and out of our local shelter. Open to the public, as well as fosters and adopters!
In addition to informal behavior meet ups, we will offer educational sessions on a variety of dog behavior/training topics. Classes will require preregistration and a small registration fee will be charged.
